el mosco

at this point it is clear-that it will be impossible to sleep tonight- mosco de m.

Cajon

lost knowledge

my mom was just discussing this the other day, de esto - the lack of communication between generations today- and of how much knowledge we lose because of this..

Marinera Limeña

One of the best recordings I've ever heard from this genre...

cumanana

"Para bailar tondero netamente de Morropon
Tiene que haber primero un repique en el cajon..."

Marinera

took forever to upload this, but finally made it-

...a buscar tondero que bailar al amanecer

I'm a huge fan of la marinera, but i can't deny that I have a definite weakspot for el tondero...

paper y el tio

I am in the midst of writing a paper for my graduate class on hegemony and U.S. imperialism...pero se me viene a la mente el tio Hugo Orellana, the last time I saw him I remember telling him about wikipedia and his excitement over it, he asked me to write down the web address for him on a piece of paper so he could make sure to visit the site on his next trip to the city- he wanted to add all of his knowledge to the public domain, and was also so worried about us (Yina and myself) documenting his artwork by taking digital pictures of all of his works :( ...it took me a while tio, but I've made sure you are there- and as for the rest here's a sample of your amazing work...
